Flush-mounted boxes are common products in the installation industry. When you are going to install flush-mounted switching material, you must mount a flush-mounted box at the location where you are going to place the switching material. First, a few types are briefly discussed to answer the frequently asked question: "When and how should I mount a flush-mounted box?". Flush-mounted boxes are available from ABB Haf and Attema, among others. The most common variants are the U40 (shown in the photo above), U50, UHW50 and the MD4050. These variants vary in terms of tube diameter (16 mm and 19 mm), clamping method and brand.

The assembly in steps
Installing a flush-mounting box takes a number of steps, which are described below.
Step 1: Measure and mark
Make sure you have the right product and mark the dimensions on the wall where you are going to mount the flush-mounted box.
Note: Do this at the place where a vertical electrical cable runs/is placed.
Step 2: Preparing the flush-mounting box
Make a hole in the wall based on the marked flush-mounting box dimensions. This is where the flush-mounting box should ultimately be mounted. Make sure that the hole in the wall has the correct depth to mount the component.
Step 3: Preparing the pipe
Now that you have made a hole, space needs to be made in the wall to install a pipe.
Step 4: Installing the flush-mounting box
Once the dimensions have been marked and the hole has been made (sawed or drilled), place the flush-mounting box and secure it to the wall with a suitable sealant if the flush-mounting box is not self-clamping.
Step 5: Installing the pipe
After the component has been placed and space has been made for the conduit, you need to place the conduit.
Place the conduit in the appropriate outlet at the top of the flush-mounting box, which leads to the central box.
We advise you to use a 'pre-wired' flexible conduit so that you do not have to pull any wires. You can also use an installation conduit so that you can easily prepare the pulling of the wires.
Step 6: Pulling wires (if you use an installation tube instead of a pre-wired flexible tube)
You now need to pull the wires through the installation tube. Use a tension spring to attach the wires and pull them through the pipe. Perform this step with two people. Make sure that the wires go through the pipe properly and without bunching up. One person feeds the wires through the tube and one person should operate the tension spring to pull the wires through the pipe.
Step 7: Install the flush-mounting box
Installing a flush-mounted box should be done carefully. Make sure that the wires are not too short. Finally, strip the wires 1 centimeter and connect the installation wires in a suitable terminal block.
Step 8: Connecting wires
After the wires have been clamped in the terminal block in the flush-mounting box, you must connect these wires to the other wires in the central box.
Step 9: Finishing the wires
Finish all wires neatly and close the flush-mounting box before filling the holes in the wall.
Step 10: Finishing the wall
Fill the holes in the wall and finish it off neatly.
You have just completed all the steps that indicate how to mount a flush-mounted box. The product is now suitable for installing flush-mounted switching material (wall socket or switch).
